Great State for Travel Nursing Wisconsin
Summers in Wisconsin are the best time to take advantage of what the beautiful state has to offer. Temperatures average in the 70s with low humidity, providing a perfect climate for outdoor activities. From taking in the state’s natural beauty, traveling back in time at a historical site, or indulging in some of the country’s best eats, Wisconsin offers plenty of opportunities for doing just that.

Apostle Islands
For the outdoor adventurer, the Wisconsin landscape contains miles upon miles of wilderness to explore. If you’re in the northern part of the state (or don’t mind a couple hours’ drive) then the Apostle Islands are certainly a spot to check out. They consist of islands and shoreline encompassing close to 70 thousand acres on the coast of Lake Superior- great for kayaking and canoeing. Devil’s Lake, in Baraboo, is the largest state park in Wisconsin. It is known for its 500ft high quartz bluffs and 330 square mile lake that were created by glaciers over 12 thousands years ago! The park offers camping, cabin rentals, hiking, rock climbing, bike trails, and more.

Parnell Tower – Kettle Moraine
For the ones that appreciate and love nature, Wisconsin is the best in the Midwest for wildlife and preservation. Kettle Moraine State Forest contains hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails where wildlife is everywhere, including deer, bears, wolves, turkeys, elk, bald eagles, cranes, hawks, rabbits, fox and many more species. The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is the perfect complement to the summer sun. The waves from Lake Michigan blow a cool breeze beyond the bluffs, and the forest offers welcoming shade along 6 miles of trails. The Center’s prairies provide a beautiful display of prairie plantings, where flowers, insects, and birds are too numerous to count.

Madison, WI
For the history buff, there are several sites to check out across the state. Of course, the state capitol building in Madison that was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2001, where you can take a tour, or even spend the entire day exploring on your own and walking around the University of Wisconsin, founded in 1848. If you want to travel back in time, Old World Wisconsin is a unique experience, where they’ve recreated an 1880s village, allowing visitors to journey back to a vivid re-creation of the working farmsteads and settlements established by European immigrants.

Wisconsin Cheese
For the foodie, Wisconsin is the place to be! Known for producing some of the best cheese in the world – Seriously, Wisconsin has a Master Cheesemaker program and it’s the only program of its kind outside of Europe where cheesemakers have to meet an extensive list of qualifications set by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, and at the World Champion Cheese Contest, the state took home 39% of the total award given out! – Travel Wisconsin has put together “The Wisconsin Cheese Tour”, where anyone can experience just how great this food staple really is. Outside of the delicious world of cheese, Wisconsin is also known for its beer in Milwaukee, kringle in Racine, and cherries in Door County. With a bar or restaurant on any corner, Wisconsin is unquestionably a great state for those who appreciate food and fun.
